My favorite seen so far in To kill a Mockingbird is the part where Atticus is telling Scout about how she needs to step into others shoes. I felt like the movie portrayed the book exactly how i would imagine it. One thing that differed from the book is where and when Scout and Atticus were talking about Scouts problems with Miss Caroline. In the book Scout is curled up in Atticus's lap in his rocking chair, and they are speaking about her issues. Where in the movie Attticus talks to Scout during her lunch and they are out on the porch swing. What made the movie scene really well done though was the Actors. I thought that the Actor for Scout and Atticus played really well off of each other and they did a very good job portraying their characters. I do prefer the book over the movie more because the book goes into much more detail then the movie does. The book makes you think and contemplate the characters situations where the movie lays it all out for you. Over all the comparison between the book and the movie are fairly close. The movies leaves some things out, but overall gives you a good general idea about what the book was about.

life changing
To kill a mockingbird was a very inspiring book for me. Two things that i have learned from this book is that i am blessed to live in a world with little racism, and that i need to look at other people's point of view not just mine. First this book showed me that i'm very blessed that i don't have to worry about talking to a black person or live in a society where i have to think i'm better then someone else. For example i'm glad i don't have to deal with things like Scout did, where i have to watch tom Robinson convicted when i know he is innocent just because he is black. I know there is still racism around the world but To Kill a Mockingbird just made me think about my life and it made me realize how blessed i really am to live in a free country.
Second i learned that i need to look at other peoples piont of view not just my own as Atticus says in the book “You never really know a man until you stand in his shoes and walk around in them.” (279) This taught me that i need to think about other's feelings to not just my own. As Atticus would put it i need to walk around in the others shoes. For example when Scout gets frustrated with Miss Caroline for getting her into trouble Atticus says she has to see it from Miss Caroline's point of view. She was new to Maycomb and she hadn't learned their ways yet. Overall To Kill a Mockingbird was a very inspiring book because it made me think about how blessed i'm, and how i can look at other peoples views besides my own.

life lessons
There many life lessons that Jem and Scout learn through out To kill a Mockingbird. One life lesson that Jem has learned is that life is not always fair. In chapter twenty- two Jem is crying the in the beginning because Tom is sentenced to prison even though he is innocent. Jem wonders why they convicted Tom even when he wasn't guilty and Atticus says, "i don't' know, but they did it. They've done it before and they did it tonight and they'll do it again and when they do it-seems that only children weep..."(pg.213) Atticus teaches Jem that life always is not fair and you have to buck up and deal with it even when you are going through a hard time. This quote shows that even if you think something is not fair it may take a while to change it, or it may not ever change, that is just the way life is. Thats what Jem learns from Atticus about life.
This is a good life lesson to learn because you can't always go around having the mind set that everything is fair. For example when my brother and i get in a fight and i get in trouble and he doesn't, it may not seem fair but i have to know that my parents are making the best judgment even if i don't think that the conclusion is fair. So i think this is a good life lesson because it helps people relate to the world more, instead of living in their own fantasy land where everything is fair.

Themes
There are many themes in To Kill a Mockingbird, but the theme that stands out the most to me is courage. The main part of the book is based on White people judging black people by the color of their skin. Atticus fights against the whites, by standing up for Tom Robinson in the court trial. This shows that Atticus has true courage because even when everyone in Maycomb was making fun of him for defending a black person, he still stood by what he thought was right, and defended Tom to the best of his ability. The type of courage in To Kill a Mockingbird is not the kind that most people think. Its not going up against a bear, or fighting someone tell the other is knocked down. Atticus's courage is fighting for what he believes in. He was running the race even though he new he would lose before he started. Atticus also had courage because even though he new he would loose the trial he knew that it was his responsibility to defend Tom Robinson."Simply because we were licked a hundred years before we started is no reason for us not to try to win. 76" This is true courage because the moment Atticus got the case he new he would loose, but he still holds his head high and defends Tom Robinson.
Another person in To Kill a Mockingbird who shows a great example of courage is Scout. Scout has to go through many things in her life that no eight year old should have to go through. For example, Scout having to sit in trial and listen to her father defend a man who possibly raped a girl is very courageous. Not only does she have to listen to what is going on she has to take all the the ridicule and comments that the children, and adults throw at her about her father. Overall Scout has much courage because she can turn the other cheek, and she is able to stand up for what she believes in, in a mature way, and hold her head high just like Atticus.

extra credit (poem)
Roses are red violets are blue English is what I love to do.
I love to write it can't be beat, the class is amazing, it's very neat.
Some say its hard, some say its easy, it even makes some a little queasy.
We're reading a book called TMB, and its written by Harper Lee.
Atticus Finch is his name and being a lawyer is his game.
He taught me the golden rule, which tells us to not be cruel.
Through the book which is really great, it's taught our class not to hate.
The blogs we do every week gives the class a learning technique.
Looking back at the last six weeks has put a smile on my cheeks.
