The Notebook / Romeo and Juliet

This trailer reminds me of Romeo and Juliet because of how much they really love one another. Noah and Ally where from two totally separate lives. Ally was wealthy and Noah was poor. In Romeo and Juliet both of them are from the same class but their parents despise one another. In the Notebook Noah and Ally fall in love but Allys parents do not want her going out with him. Ally must move away and forget about Noah. She finds someone who she ends up falling in love with and her parents very much approve. In Romeo and Juliet, Their parents would never have agreed to let them get married, and Juliet's parents want her to marry Paris who she does not love. In the end Ally comes back to Noah and they die together after living a long and happy life. Both Romeo and Juliet love each other so much they are willing to give up their lives for one another, just like ally is willing to give up everything for Noah.

* i found this trailer when i looked up the Notebook on youtube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S3G3fILPQAU

Pictures are worth a 1,000 words!

This picture was taken by myself. This picture reminds me of Romeo and Juliet because both Romeo and Juliet were not allowed to be together. Their lives were so different and yet they were alike in many ways. This pictures represents their life. Its like they have a wall between one another, or that how their parents would like it to be. Overall this picture reminded me of Romeo and Juliet because of how they are supposed to be apart yet they love each other so much that they are willing to risk their lives to stay together.

Scene Two Romantics

My favorite scene in act two of Romeo and Juliet is the balcony scene. This scene is my favorite because i love the way they speak to one another. The way Shakespeare wrote it was so poetic and romantic but yet it was still funny at parts. In this scene Romeo cannot stand to be away from Juliet so he climbs up to her balcony and starts speaking to her. At first Romeo is talking softly so Juliet does not here him. She starts talking about how she loves Romeo, when she finds him on her balcony. They talk for a while and they decide they will wed the next afternoon. I think this scene will affect both Romeo and Juliet greatly. I think this will affect them because they both want to marry one another but neither of there family's know. This could cause great problems because in the future if their parents found out they could be banished from seeing one another, and they could get in trouble because they wont stop seeing one another. I think that this scene opens up everything to go wrong from then on. Their love just is not made to work, so when they have balcony scenes like this you know that they future wont be good when their parents find out. If i were Juliet in this situation i think that i would would be very excited that Romeo came back to see me. At the same time though i would be very frightened for because Romeo snuck up on me like that. my reaction would be both confusion, frustration because i know he shouldn't be here, and love. Overall though if i where Juliet the love would win over and the scene would most likely play out for me just like it did in the book. Overall i am thoroughly enjoying Romeo and Juliet and cannot wait to read more!

Dramatic Players

One character that truly stands out to me in Romeo and Juliet is Romeo. Based off of the way he speaks and acts during scene one he seems like he would be a very dramatic person to be around. The way that he speaks about Rosalyn makes me think that he could be quite annoying. what makes him so dramatic is that he says things like teach me how not to think. He is saying that he could never forget about Rosalyn, but the second he see's Juliet he says he has never truly loved before he saw her. This seemed to show me that not only is he dramatic but he seems shallow. To jump from one girl to the next makes me think he was never really serious about the first girl so all that talk of never loving another girl apart from Rosalyn was for nothing. Although Romeo seems to have some problems so does everyone else, and overall i think that Romeo would be a kind honest person to be around. I think that Romeo looks handsome, with thick brown wavy hair and brown eyes that are as deep and thick as chocolate. now i can see why Juliet falls for him. One person that i know that i could defiantly compare Romeo to is my friend Hailee. Sometimes she over dramatizes things and freaks out over very little things that really aren't that important, but that makes her, her. I still love hanging out with her which is why i think Romeo would be just as fun to meet and get to know.

Lessons Learned

One of the biggest premonitions that i have ever had was right before my first basketball game of the season. My team and i were on our way to play the hardest team in the league and i was freaking out. For some reason i kept feeling like someone was going to get badly injured during the game, and that someone was going to be me. All my friends told me that i was just freaking myself out and i would be fine but i still felt like i was going to get hurt. Within the first ten seconds of the game i went up to block a shot and the girl on the opposite team pushed me down. I landed on my wrist backwards and the impact snapped it. Because of that one shot i blocked i was out for the whole season. If i just would have been a little more careful and went with my gut feeling i probably would have been fine for the season. The reason that i neglected listening to my gut feeling is because i really wanted to win the game. We had never beaten the team so the whole team was working really hard. If i just would have been a little more careful we might have won. I also thought that maybe i was just freaking myself out so i just ignored my feelings. overall i am sad that i broke my wrist and we lost the game but it taught me a good lesson, to listen to myself when something really doesn't feel right.

Shakspearen movies

One movie that i can relate very closely to the theme from Romeo and Juliet is the Notebook. In the Notebook both the man and women are crazy about each other, they do everything together. After the Parents of the girl meet the boy though they do not approve of him. They think that she deserves better so they force her to move. This is like romeo and Juliet because in both movies the parents do not approve of the couples dating and they try to force them apart. I think the directors of the Notebook closely related the play Romeo and Juliet to their movie. Although the Notebook seems to be taken from Shakespeare many others do the same as well. Another movie That uses Shakespeare's ideas is 27 Dresses. In this movie the girl is in love with her boss but the boss is getting married to the womens younger sister. The movie is just Like a Midsummer Nights dream. The women is in love with a man who loves her friend. It seemed that Shakespeare was there directing the movie. The characters seemed to match the plays characters almost perfectly.Although these are just two of the many movies that have been copied after Shakespeare's writing he was an amazing writer which is why i hope people make more movies with his ideas for years and years to come.

Shakespearian writing

When i heard we were going to read Romeo and Juliet i was very excited. I have never read or seen a movie on the play, but i have heard much, and know plot the plot line well. then i heard we were watching a midsummers night dream and i was even more thrilled. After watching the movie i feel it is defiantly easier to understand what Shakespeare was saying. It was defiantly helpful to me because now i have an understanding of What Shakespeare will sound like in Romeo and Juliet. Before we started the movie felt that i new the language fairly well but it could defiantly be improved.Overall what helped the most was Mrs. Gilman telling us about the movie before we watched it. This was helpful because then i had an understanding of what was going on even if i didn't fully understand what was being said. My favorite part of A Midsummer Night's Dream was the plot. I loved how Shakespeare switched it up so one minute someone loved this person but the next they were in love with someone else. I was very sad though in the end when it turned out it was all a dream. Other then that it was one of my favorite movies and i defiantly look forward to reading and seeing Romeo and Juliet over the next few months.
