Atticus's Parenting

I think that Atticus is a caring parent because when Scout is having trouble with Miss. Caroline her teacher Attcius says."If you can learn a simple trick, Scout, you'll get along a lot better with all kinds of folks. You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view-until you climb into his skin and walk around in it." This shows Atticus is a caring parent because he actually cares about why Scout is frustrated with school. He gives her advice and trys to help her, instead of blowing her off. This shows me that Atticus's parenting style is genuine. He does not try to fake caring, and he always trys to do the right thing when taking care of his children. Atticus teaches Jem and Scout to follow the law and not to judge people. This shows that Atticus is trying to instill morals with his children, and so far in the book Atticus seems to be doing a very good job.

Atticus and my parents are both very much alike. Both Attcius and my parents try to instill good morals for their children to go through life with. Atticus, and my parents are also very loving and they try to provide the best that they can. I would want to have a father like Atticus, and i do, because they both love their children, there both lawyers, and they are caring. I Would also want to have a father like Atticus because he works hard so his children can have a great life.

Changing perceptions

Some mysterious occurrences that have been happening is one Scout is staring to find different trinkets in the tree by the Radley house, and two when Jem went back for his pants that night after he lost them crawling through the fence they were, sowed and folded neatly over the fence. This changes my perception about Boo RAdley greatly, because at first i thought that he was a crazy man who was locked up in a house all of his life. After seeing what occurrences have been happening though i think Boo RAdley is actually very sweet. It seems like he is just trying to be nice to Jem and Scout and be their friend, because he probably hasn't ever had any friends and he is very lonely. The book gives clues to Boo Radley's real nature by telling about how he sewed up Jem's pants. "pg. 58 They'd been sewed up. Not like a lady sewed 'em, like somethin i'd try to do."This quote shows that after everyone on Jem and Scout's street new that someone had been in the Radley's collards, Boo did not want Jem to get in trouble. So after Jem lost his pants Boo mended them so it looked like Jem had done it. So when Atticus asked about Jem's pants the next morning Jem and Scout wouldn't get in trouble. This shows that Boo was never mean in the first place.

Scout's discussion with Miss Maudie about Boo Radley and Atticus's reactions to the game Jem Scout, and Dill are playing adds to my perception of Boo RAdley's character as just being sweet. Having the grown ups act and talk the way they did in the book shows that Boo never really did anything, he didn't deserve to be locked up in his house, and he was never a mean man at all. The only reason anyone ever thought that Boo was mean was because no one had ever seen Boo Radley. So Jem and Scout made assumptions based on what rumors they have heard. This goes to show us that we should get to know a person before we ever judge them.

First Impressions!

My first impression of Boo Radley was that he was a mean man who lived in an old house. I do not not think that the rumors about Boo Radley are true because people make up things about others just because they want an answer for themselves.(pg. 11)" Jem received most of his information from miss Stephanie Crawford, a neighborhood scold, who said she new the whole thing." (pg. 11)"As Mr. Radley passed by, Boo drove scissors into his parents leg, pulled them out, wiped them on his pants, and resumed his activities." The reason i do not believe in the rumors is because no one in Maycomb has any proof. Based on the first sentence, it show that Jem heard it from Stephanie Crawford who said she new the whole thing, but who knows, she could have made it up. I think that the people of Maycomb are making up these rumors in the first place because they don't know who Boo Radley is. They have to come up with a reason in their mind for what he does and who he is, because they can not stand having someone who is not like them, who they know nothing about.

I think that i am most similar to Jem because he makes the most rational decisions. He seems like he is the leader of the group and he try's to be the most mature. Although he makes mistakes, he is able to take responsibly for them and move on. I think i am like Jem because i too am a leader. I like to help people with their problems, and i am responsible like Jem. last but not least the main reason i am most like Jem is because i am mature. I know when its time too be silly and when its time to be quite and calm. Although Jem isn't always that way it seems like he try's his best... just like me.
