Terrible Tragedy

The most disturbing part of Animal Farm for me is when Napoleon says he is sending Boxer to an animal hospital but he is actually going to kill him. After Boxer splits his hoof he never seems to be himself again. He can not work as hard ,although he trys, and he is getting to the age where he should no longer be working. On one occasion Boxer is working by himself and he falls. When the animals realize the tragedy it is to late. Boxer is hurt to bad to work any longer. Clover nurses him for a few weeks but he can no longer do anymore work. Napoleon tells everyone not to worry, and that Boxer will get the best care he could get from the hospital he is going to. It turns out Boxer is not going to the hospital he is going to a slaughter house. This was defiantly the most depressing thing for me in this book because throughout the whole book Boxer worked so hard, and then the second he gets hurt and can not work anymore Napoleon ships him off to be killed. Overall this was defiantly the saddest part in the book for me and i hope the animals come to realize how truly terrible Napoleon really is.

Animal Farm

When i first heard that we where reading animal farm in class i wasn't very excited. Everyone that had read this book before me told me it was not a good book and they thought it was very boring. As i started reading though i decided that i really enjoyed it. It was nice that we had the assignment about the Russian revolution because even though it was alot of work i wouldn't have understanded the book without it. One of my favorite things in the book is that all the animals are based off of real life characters. As i was reading i was able to compare the humans to the animals and i really enjoyed seeing the resemblance. One thing that i really do not like about animal farm is the way the pigs are treating the animals. It is really getting on my nerves that they are breaking their own commandments. What's worse though is the other animals are letting them do it. I really hate that the animals are so stupid and naive. I know they are supposed to play that part because it is based off the Russian revolution but i really wish the animals had more depth to them. Overall i am enjoying animal farm and i hope that the animals get tougher and stand up to the pigs in the future.

Winter festivities

Freezing was all i could think as i stood there covered in snow. It was horrible, my nose was cold and with four pairs of socks and boots my toes still felt worse then frost bitten. It all started when it began snowing. At first i loved the snow it was great. It was beutiful and fun to play in as long as you can go in when your cold. I soon found out that when there is more then a foot of snow and your outside working its not so enjoyable. You may not know this but i have 37 cows. We live on a farm and they are all out in a huge field. They aren't usually a big problem(when there's no snow). As the snow was piling up the fence that was keeping our cows in started to droop. It got so heavy that the fenced collapsed. Saturday morning we get this call saying that a cow is in the middle of the road. So we go outside to check and sure enough its just standing there wondering what to do. So we rush back inside to get dressed, so we can go get the cow back in the pasture. Me of course being the smart person that i am didn't put on any socks. I thought"oh we won't be out there for very long." As we were walking down to take care of the cow in the road a police car drives up. He says he got a call saying there was a cow in the road and he came down to see what he could do. We said "Thanks but we can handle it ourselves." After getting down to the pasture my mom tells me go back up and put socks on before your toes freeze, and my aunt goes get me some gummy bears! so i go back up to my house put four pairs of socks on put my boots back on get the gummy bears and run back down to the field. When i get down there, there is a cow in the lane. (the lane is the road between the two fields that we use to drive in and out of when working with the cows). So i hopp the fence to get to my mom and this cow starts running. I have no idea what it is doing but apparently i am not big enough to scare it because it is coming right towards me. I jump in to a ditch and just miss the dumb cow. By then i am starting to get cold and on top of that i am now wet because of lying in the snow. I get to my aunt and we end of standing off to the side of the fence eating gummy bears and watching as my dad trys to get all the cows into the other field which doesn't have any broken fences. Two hours later i come to the point that i was at, at the beginning of my story. I am standing there eating frozen gummy bears, my toes are completely numb and my nose is freezing. I beg my mom until she finally says i can go back up to my house and get my feet warm. before i go though my aunt warns me put your feet in luke warm water first and gradually get the water warmer other wise your feet will hurt really bad. So i go back to my house and decide i am just going to put my feet into the tub of boiling water because they are so cold i cant stand it. I put my feet in and at first its nice and i wonder what my aunt was talking about. Then all of the sudden i start having this searing pain going through my feet. I ripp my feet out of the water and know i am lying there on the floor my feet are still cold but now i have this horrible pain from the warm water. (now i know what my aunt was talking about). Anyways the moral of my story is when dealing with cows make sure you keep your feet warm. Although i didn't have the most amazing experiences over winter break i still had alot of fun and enjoyed every bit of it.

expectations

One of the biggest things for me that i expect to get out of high school is a good learning experience. I want to be prepared so as i go out into the world i am able to handle things and be able to support myself. Some of my expectations that i have for myself over the next for years is to get good grades. Not only do i want to get good grades but i want to be involved in activities and groups, and hopefully become apart of student government for the school. As i go on to college i hope to attend UCLA in California and go on to become a politician. Some things that i expect to learn over the next years of my life is how to get along in the real world, how to get a good job and maintain a good salary, and be able to get the grades i need to get into a good college. Some experiences that i hope to have through out my high school experience really depends on what i want to major in. Like i said earlier i would like to get into student government and i would also like to continue with sports. As i go through out high school i hope to maintain good grades and get into a good college.

I chose "Richard Cory" by Edwin Arlington Robinson because of the meaning behind the poem. At first it was just the poem that my group was assigned to read in front of the class. Then as i read the poem again i started to see the deeper meaning behind the words. I decided to go with this poem becasue it had meaning in my life to. The meaning for this poem is money can not ever by happiness. In the poem the people thought Richard Cory had everything, but when he kills himself in the end it shows that he may have had everything but he still wasn't happy. This has to do with my life because i may see someone that seems like they have everything but it turns out they still are not happy. I have learned that i can not find my happiness in material things. This poem really spoke to me and reminded me that i have to place my happiness in more fulfilling things not just whatever money can buy. As i am preparing for the class competition i first just read the poem over and over to get it into my head. Then i started memorizing it by saying it aloud. After that i went back to reading the poem, but with meaning. Now i am practicing saying the poem with meaning so i can do the best of my ability on Monday, for the class competition. i cant really say whether or not i will win the competition. I hope to be in the top ten and i will try my best, and then from there whatever happens happens.

" The road Not Taken" by Robert Frost is my favrite poem becasue of its meaning behind the words. I think the poem means that the man had a chose to go with the crowd or to go his own way. "Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—I took the one less traveled by,And that has made all the difference." I think this shows he had difficulty not going with the crow just like everyone else does. At some point in your life you have to choose to go with the crowd or to go your own way. This is what the person had to do in the poem he had to make a choice, was hard but he did it, and it made all the difference.

I chose this poem because it really shows about my life. I came from a small private school. So as i was dropped into a big public school i had alot of decisions that needed to be made. I had to choose to go with the crowd and cuss and dress wrong, or to go my own way and do the right thing. Just like the author had trouble with his decisions in the poem i had trouble with mine. In the end though i new it was better to choose to go my own way then get caught with the crowd. That is hat sticks out to me when choosing poems i like, can i relate to what the author is speaking about. This is why i liked this poem by Robert Frost so much.

My favorite seen so far in To kill a Mockingbird is the part where Atticus is telling Scout about how she needs to step into others shoes. I felt like the movie portrayed the book exactly how i would imagine it. One thing that differed from the book is where and when Scout and Atticus were talking about Scouts problems with Miss Caroline. In the book Scout is curled up in Atticus's lap in his rocking chair, and they are speaking about her issues. Where in the movie Attticus talks to Scout during her lunch and they are out on the porch swing. What made the movie scene really well done though was the Actors. I thought that the Actor for Scout and Atticus played really well off of each other and they did a very good job portraying their characters. I do prefer the book over the movie more because the book goes into much more detail then the movie does. The book makes you think and contemplate the characters situations where the movie lays it all out for you. Over all the comparison between the book and the movie are fairly close. The movies leaves some things out, but overall gives you a good general idea about what the book was about.
